Labrador Retrievers are loved all over the world. It is no wonder, the community of breed lovers is huge. They unite their efforts to share experience in the breed and promote it by the means of organizing shows and specialty events.

The Labrador Retriever Club, Inc, is the parent club for the breed in the United States. The club hosts shows and trial events. The importance of trials organization for the Labrador Retriever is hard to overestimate. This breed is sporting and is used as a hunting companion and guide dog. Needless to say, a dog should display good working qualities and sound temperament to be eligible for breeding. Trials and tests help to determine the best dogs and improve the breed.

The AKC first registered the Labrador Retriever in 1917. The Labrador Retriever Club, Inc. started its history in 1931. Gradually, the community of Labrador Retriever lovers grew. Nowadays, the breed is the most popular one in the United States. It is true that the current popularity of the Labrador Retriever is due to its wonderful personality characteristics and working abilities. However, much of the success should be attributed to the club's activities. This official body for America's most loved breed takes care of health issues and develops breeder guidelines.

Breed education seems to be vital in promoting the breed. Not only do breeders have to be educated on the basics of the breeding business, but also Labrador Retriever fanciers have to be warned against irresponsible puppy purchase. Knowing about the care requirements for the breed and being able to fulfill them all is the key to responsible owning. Hence, it is recommended to acquire breed education prior to buying a puppy.
